„If you build it“ – an evening on design/build and its impact

design/build has not yet made it to the curricula of many architecture schools and universities, but experience has shown how powerful the combination of architecture and design/build methods can be – not only for the makers/builders but also for communities, villages and various stakeholder groups.

We will screen a german premiere of the documentary “If you build it” (USA 2013, Patrick Creadon) about a design/build project in the USA. Together with 10 students two designers, Emily Pilloton (Project H) and Matthew Miller, build a community centre for the poorest county in North Carolina as part of a high school project. The film shows the power of design/build and its methods in full scale.

After the film we invite you for a discussion on the process and the impact of design/build projects in general. We invited experts to share their knowledge on projects in Germany but also abroad. The discussion will be moderated by Kristina Bacht. The event is for free and in English.
